We were so excited to learn about the newly discovered classic Dr Seuss story, What Pet Should I Get? We just had to come up with a fun preschool craft to do after reading the story, so we made our very own paper plate pets (they are so much easier to look after than the real thing).

What Pet Should I Get? is a must have read for all Dr Seuss fans! It charts the story of a brother and sister who visit a pet store and have to make the difficult choice of which pet to get. But which one do they choose?
What Pet Should I Get? Paper Plate Pets
Before starting this activity with my 3 year old daughter, I prepared all of the materials we needed to make a dog, a cat, a goldfish and a rabbit.
I then set all of the materials out for her and let her take control of painting, gluing and sticking her paper plate pets together.
For the painting part of each of her pets, Bella used a sponge to dab and smear the paint over the paper plates.
