In class they had all cut out and made very simple Penguin collages, as part of their project. He was keen to share this idea and take it further at home with his big brother after school. We did a little research of our own and all loved the painted background on these fabulous Penguins on<a href=\"http:\/\/www.deepspacesparkle.com\/2013\/01\/14\/penguin-art-project\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Deep Space Sparkle.<\/a> We decided to combine the two projects to make our own Penguin Winter Art.<\/p>\n<h2>Penguin Winter Art Project<\/h2>\n<p><em>This post contains affiliate links for your convenience.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Supplies<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>White Paper<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2infX3H\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Paint<\/a> &#8211; Pink, Blue and Purple<\/li>\n<li>Kitchen Sponges<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2jzbVmN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Coloured Constrution Paper<\/a> &#8211; Black and Orange<\/li>\n<li>Newspaper<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2inj2kt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Googly Eyes<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We began our activity creating a beautiful background inspired by the chilly tones of winter. The boys dipped sponges into pink, purple and blue paint and dabbed them all over their canvas in a haphazard fashion. This simple technique created a stunning winter backdrop for our Penguin art project.<\/p>\n<p>Another fun way to create the wintry background would be to use this <a href=\"http:\/\/craftulate.com\/2015\/12\/winter-sky-art-for-kids.html\" target=\"_blank\">cool marbling effect.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7090\" src=\"https:\/\/craftykidsathome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Winter-Penguin-Art-Project-1.jpg\" alt=\"Child painting a Winter scene\" width=\"600\" height=\"401\" srcset=\"https:\/\/craftykidsathome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Winter-Penguin-Art-Project-1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/craftykidsathome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Winter-Penguin-Art-Project-1-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Whilst their paintings dried, it was time to work on the Penguin collages.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Cut out a Penguin shaped body from black paper along with a set of wings.<\/li>\n<li>Cut out a beak and a pair feet using the orange paper.<\/li>\n<li>Take a sheet of newspaper and cut out the Penguins white chest.<\/li>\n<li>Glue your Penguin together.
