We always keep a stack of paper plates in our “Making Box” for splodging paint onto for easy clean up when we are getting arty. Paper plates are also very handy to turn into all sorts of fun things in arts and crafts activities. We made some super cute baby farm animals recently for a guest post over on Mess for Less. And this week we have had our paper plates out again

Supplies
  1. Paint all over a paper plate with yellow paint.

2. Cut out a circle of yellow paper to use for the chick’s face. We traced around a cup for this and cut it out.

3. Cut out 3 small triangles of orange paper to use for the chick’s beak and feet.
 4. Glue the yellow circle into the middle of the paper plate once the paint has dried.
5 Glue on one of the orange triangles into the centre of the yellow circle for the chick’s beak.

6.  Stick on 2 googly eyes to finish off the face.
7. Glue the remaining 2 orange triangles onto the bottom of the paper plate for the feet.
8. Decorate all around the paper plate with colourful feathers.

Chicks are traditionally yellow, but hey sometimes it’s fun to do things a little differently to see what effect it makes. My kids loved picking out the different colours and it doubled up as a great colour recognition practice for my toddler as well.  Our paper plate crazy chicks will take pride of place, when we put up our Easter decorations when the kids break up from school.
