Tired of the same old after school snack ideas? Then why not try one (or two) of our Fun Fruit Kebabs. They will give your child a much needed fruity energy boost after a busy day in school, along with a little treat as well.
My kids always come home from school starving and are immediately on the look out for snacks. They enjoy the usual after school snacks of:
- Sandwiches
- Crackers and cheese
- Bread sticks and hummus
- Fruit
- Crisps or popcorn
But as we head towards the end of the week and we maybe have a friend or two over to on a play date, then we like to add a fun element to our after school snack routine. They still have to be healthy, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be fun as well.
Our Fun Fruit Kebabs work perfectly balancing healthy fruit with a few marshmallow treats. Kids love to take control of building their own, making it easier on you and great for their fine motor skills, as they thread their fruit and treats onto their wooden skewers.
Fun Fruit Kebabs
You will need:
- Strawberries
- Bananas
- Marshmallows
- Wooden skewers
I laid out each of the elements in dishes alongside the wooden skewers and then invited the kids to make their own fruit kebab. The only rule was that they had to eat more fruit than marshmallows.
On this particular occasion I had made a plate of ham sandwiches as well our fruit kebabs. I hadn’t intended for the sandwiches to form part of the kebabs, but the kids seemed to think it was a great idea.
They did hoover up all of the fruit though (and marshmallows of course) so I didn’t mind too much.

I’m sure these will be super tasty. Of course, I’m wanting to dip it in chocolate!
